instructions to install:

First you'll need to unpack the gz tarball with gunzip, ark, or other archiver to a folder in wherever location.

Then open up a terminal, navigate to that folder, then type:

su (login as root, enter password)

make
or
make install

Then copy rar.exe and rarreg.key to /usr/local/bin (overwrite or make backup and replace)

That's it. Type: rar -? to see all the options. Note: this is a command-line version of winrar; no gui.
